Wuta Mayi began his career in 1968 in Kinshasa with Papa Noel and L'Orchestra Bamboula. In ’74, he became part of Franco & le T.P.O.K. Jazz. Wuta stayed with Franco until ’82, when, in Paris with Syran Mbenza, Bopol Mansiamina and Nyboma, formed the Quatre Etoiles - a Soukous 'super-group'. Great to see this classic of Senegalese institution Orchestra Baobab being rereleased and appearing here on Bandcamp as well :-) Perfect blending of African and Afro-Cuban ingredients. Saxophone and guitar driven songs with good vocal lines, too.
