Wuta Mayi began his career in 1968 in Kinshasa with Papa Noel and L'Orchestra Bamboula. In ’74, he became part of Franco & le T.P.O.K. Jazz. Wuta stayed with Franco until ’82, when, in Paris with Syran Mbenza, Bopol Mansiamina and Nyboma, formed the Quatre Etoiles - a Soukous 'super-group'. The new millenium found Wuta Mayi in Kékélé, bringing Congolese music to the attention of a wider public.
